Teaching

Diane has been a teacher of photography and visual arts for over twenty years, and of digital media since 1990. She currently teaches part-time: visual arts theory and photography in the Faculty of Creative Arts, University of Wollongong, and photography, digital imaging and video at The Illawarra Grammar School. She is the author and designer of “10+”, a book which documents the photographic work produced by her students at TIGS, over a ten year period.

Research

Diane is enrolled at the University of Wollongong in her final year as a Doctoral candidate in the School of Art and Design. She uses digital photographic media and systems to map specific sites, and to explore notions of embodiment, culture, time and place. Her mapping process interprets site as a dynamic place, a work-in-progress, where moments of presence illuminate layers of the past. Like the stratigraphy of a ruinous site, knowledge and understanding of place is flexible, layered, interwoven, and infinite.

In 2006, Diane travelled to Cyprus as a member of the UOW 'Sonic Architectures Project' team, where she constructed visual maps of the ancient Paphos Theatre and related sites.

Seasky Images

Since 2004, Diane has operated a boutique business, Seasky Images. She creates photographic imagery and graphic design solutions for several clients, including DND Interiors, Mooloolaba, PRM Architects, and South Coast Holidays, Gerringong.
